Rivnut Alternative

Flowdrill offers a reliable alternative to Rivnuts also known as Blind rivet nuts by overcoming many of the challenges encountered by Rivnut users. A Flowdrill connection cannot spin in its hole; this results in less rework and a more reliable connection for you or your customer. There is no need to pre-plan where the holes need to be laser cut to form the hexagon holes many rivnuts require to remain fixed.

Flowdrill more cost-effective than Rivnuts

With a Flowdrill you can produce up to ten thousand connections with one tool, this results in cost savings of 85% compared to Rivnuts. With using one tool for all the connections, it will also reduce your inventory, resulting in smooth stock keeping and purchasing. The connection is formed using the parent material, so there is no need to introduce any additional fixings. As the connection forms from the same material, environmental conditions such as heat and cold do not affect the stability and there is less chance of connection working loose as can occur with dissimilar metals. In many industries, loose fixings such as riv-nuts can be of concern. As the rivetnut as an insert can, on occasion work loose and result in rework.

Many connections with one tool.

Flowdrill can drill in most malleable materials, as a rule of thumb if you can bend it you can drill it. When using the standard tool and our Flowtaps, the advantages over rive-nuts are many. Holes can produce all standard threads from M2 to M20 and in material thicknesses from 1.0mm to 10mm steel. In some cases, a Flowdrill hole can replace a blind rivet nut by simply providing adequate material to use a self-tapping or thread forming screw to reduce manufacturing costs further. With Flowdrill two styles of hole finish are available, the standard which provides a small collar upstand replicating that of certain blind rivet nuts or the flat giving the user a flush finish on the workpiece.
